The first pure filipino in NBA soon to be?

I`ve been watching and following all games of Coby Paras he has a potential to become the first pure filipino in NBA with the height of 6'7. And if that happens in the future that will be another Achievement of Filipino Athletes. This time, the younger Paras will have the opportunity to represent the country for the second time in his career.

“It was really an honor playing for the national team. Not everyone is given the chance,” said Kobe.




The Philippine national youth team faces a tough challenge in the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship when it takes on host Qatar to open its second round campaign in Doha on Friday.

The Batang Gilas U-18 team needs to finish in the top four of Group E to qualify for the knockout rounds.

The Philippines currently sports a 1-1 record after an opening win over Jordan on Wednesday and a defeat to South Korea on Thursday.

After Qatar, the Philippines will take on perennial champion China on Saturday and Southeast Asian neighbors on Sunday.

A strong overseas Filipino contingent is expected to attend the match, which is scheduled at 5 p.m. Doha time (10 p.m. in Manila).

San Beda Red Lions freshman Ranbill Tongco has been on fire for Batang Gilas, scoring 24 points in each of the Philippines' first two games. But highly-touted Kobe Paras has struggled with his shot, averaging just 6.5 points in his first two games of the tournament. — JST, GMA News
